Weather Warning: IMD Issues Heavy Rain And Hailstorm Alerts Across Multiple States, Full Weather Update May 13

A significant weather divide has emerged across the country, with western regions experiencing intense heat while several eastern and northeastern states are facing heavy rainfall and storm activity. The India Meteorological Department has issued multiple alerts highlighting both heatwave conditions and active monsoon-related developments, indicating highly unstable atmospheric patterns over the coming days.

In Rajasthan, temperatures have surged beyond the 48-degree Celsius mark, reflecting severe heat stress conditions. At the same time, several regions in the North-East and hilly belts are witnessing continuous rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds, creating a stark climatic contrast.

Heatwave Intensifies In Western And Central Regions

Western Rajasthan remains the most severely affected area, with heatwave conditions expected to persist over the next several days. Some isolated pockets may also experience extreme heat intensity as temperatures remain consistently high.

Similar heat-related conditions are likely in parts of Eastern Rajasthan and Western Madhya Pradesh over an extended period. Central Maharashtra and Gujarat are also expected to witness hot weather conditions, though for a shorter duration.

Meteorological observations suggest that Eastern Rajasthan will continue to experience uncomfortable heat conditions in isolated regions, increasing health risks and energy demand in affected areas.

Heavy Rainfall And Storm Alerts In North-East

On the opposite end of the weather spectrum, Northeastern India continues to receive persistent rainfall activity. Assam and Meghalaya are under a heavy rainfall warning for several consecutive days, indicating prolonged wet conditions. Arunachal Pradesh is also expected to receive significant rainfall during the same period.

Other Northeastern states, including Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, are likely to experience heavy showers accompanied by strong winds reaching speeds of up to 50 km per hour. These conditions raise concerns about localised disruptions, especially in low-lying and hilly terrain.

Rainfall Activity Spreads Across Northern And Eastern India

Intermittent rainfall is also being observed in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, with a mix of rain and snowfall in higher regions. In Uttar Pradesh, thunderstorms and rainfall have been forecast across multiple districts for the day.

Bihar has been placed under a severe storm alert with wind speeds expected to reach up to 70 km per hour. Jharkhand is also likely to experience heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in mid-May.

Meanwhile, West Bengal, Sikkim and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are expected to see light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorm activity over the coming days.

Early Monsoon Signs Over Southern Waters

According to meteorological updates, early monsoon progression is likely over parts of the Andaman Sea, the South Bay of Bengal and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands by the end of the week. This development is expected to gradually influence weather patterns across southern India and later extend towards northeastern regions.

The early signs of monsoon advancement indicate a shift in large-scale atmospheric circulation, which may further intensify rainfall activity in the coming weeks.

Changing Weather Patterns Raise Regional Impact Concerns

The simultaneous presence of extreme heat in western India and heavy rainfall in eastern and northeastern regions highlights the complexity of current weather systems. With multiple alerts issued across states, conditions remain highly dynamic.

Meteorological authorities continue to monitor developments closely as both heatwave risks and storm-related disruptions are expected to persist in different parts of the country over the coming days.
