About their personal relationship, Garima recalled how close the cousins had been over the years. She said Sandipan had done modelling and acting work with Zubeen several times - “he did modelling projects with us 3-4 times, he was good in that - Zubeen was always encouraging to new talents” - and when Sandipan joined the APS, Zubeen felt proud. She added that Zubeen used to boast about Sandipan among friends and family, calling him “the tallest in the family” and “good-looking.”

Regarding the developments in the investigation, Garima acknowledged that Sandipan had been summoned and eventually arrested by Assam CID’s Special Investigation Team (SIT). But she refrained from making further comments. “Maybe they have got some clue in his statement. The investigation process is on and it is taking its own course, I can’t comment anything on it,” she said.

Following his arrest, the Assam government suspended Sandipan from service with immediate effect. At present, he is in police custody as part of the probe into Zubeen’s death, making him the fifth person apprehended in connection with the case.Zubeen Garg passed away on September 19, 2025, during a swimming incident while in Singapore. The exact circumstances remain under investigation, with multiple persons being questioned or arrested, including event organizers, members of his musical team, and his manager.

Garima’s comments - particularly that Sandipan wanted to accompany Zubeen due to his first chance at foreign travel offer a personal insight amid the broader legal and investigative storm. Whether his presence bears deeper significance will depend on what emerges from his statements and evidence. As of now, the legal process continues, and the family (as Garima has expressed) seeks clarity and justice.
