BAFTA Best Actor winner's new film with 100% score is heading to Netflix

Last night at the BAFTAs, pundits were expecting Timothée Chalamet to pick up the Best Actor award for Marty Supreme.

However, in a surprise upset, Robert Aramayo (Game of Thrones, The Rings of Power) was shocked to discover he'd won, beating movie stars like Leonardo DiCaprio and Michael B Jordan.

The 33-year-old English actor is the first since Jamie Bell in 2000 to win the Best Actor BAFTA without being nominated for the equivalent Oscar.

He won for starring in I Swear, a biopic of John Davidson, a Scottish man with severe Tourette's syndrome that has 100% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

In fact, Davidson was present and caused a stir when he involuntarily shouted the N-word when Black actors Michael B Jordan and Delroy Lindo took to the stage.

Written and directed by Kirk Jones, I Swear's official synopsis reads: "Based on the true story, I SWEAR is a moving, uplifting account of the life of John Davidson, a Tourette syndrome campaigner who grew up with the condition in 1980s Scotland, at a time when it was little known and misunderstood. Featuring outstanding performances from Robert Aramayo, Peter Mullan, Shirley Henderson and Maxine Peake, I SWEAR is a frank, funny and touching story about the transformative power of friendship and community."

I Swear will be streaming on Netflix from March 10, 2026.
