Big News for Highway Travelers! FASTag Annual Pass Fees to Increase from April 1st

FASTag Annual Pass Hike: The fee for the FASTag annual pass is set to increase for the new financial year. Currently, the price of the FASTag annual pass stands at ₹3,000, which will see an increase of approximately 2.5 percent.

FASTag Annual Pass Hike: If you are one of those commuters who frequently travel on highways, this news is for you. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is set to increase the annual fee for FASTag for the new financial year (2026-27).

Effective April 1, 2026, the price of the FASTag annual pass has been raised from ₹3,000 to ₹3,075. This represents an increase of ₹75 (approximately 2.5 percent). FASTag is an electronic toll collection system that facilitates cashless travel on national highways and expressways. This annual pass serves as a prepaid option for frequent travelers, allowing users to make a one-time payment and pass through toll plazas without any interruptions.

How Long is the Annual Pass Valid?

This annual pass will remain valid for a period of one year or for 200 toll crossings—whichever occurs first. Once the limit of 200 trips is reached, the pass will automatically revert to a standard FASTag (Pay-per-use) mode. You will then need to reactivate it. Although the fee increase is modest, it is a significant development for users who travel frequently on highways.

Meanwhile, those wishing to purchase or renew their annual pass can still do so at the current price before the new rates come into effect. The FASTag annual pass offers numerous benefits, including hassle-free toll payments, reduced waiting times at toll plazas, and cost-effective travel for frequent commuters.

Who Can Use It? The Annual Pass can be utilized for both private and commercial vehicles. However, its coverage is limited; specifically, it is valid at approximately 1,150 toll plazas across the country (covering National Highways and Expressways). It will not function on State Highways or private toll roads.

How to Renew or Activate the Annual Pass?

• First, install the 'Rajmarg Yatra' App or visit the NHAI website.
• Log in using your registered mobile number and the OTP received on it.
• Select the 'Annual Toll Pass' option and enter your vehicle's Registration Number (VRN).
• Make a payment of ₹3,000 (valid until March 31st) using UPI, a Debit/Credit Card, or Net Banking.
• Your FASTag will become active within approximately 2 hours of completing the payment.
