Bottles flung, tempers flare: Hyderabad gig goes off-key for Arpit Bala; artiste later issues an apology
Singer Arpit Bala ’s Hyderabad gig veered off course on Saturday night after a bottle from the crowd struck him mid-set, triggering a tense on-stage confrontation and briefly halting the show. The incident, captured on video and widely shared online, has sparked a heated debate over crowd misconduct and the limits of a performer’s response.
What happened
The incident unfolded at Kingdome Klub & Kitchen , where Bala was performing as part of his ongoing tour. Mid-set, a bottle was thrown from the crowd and hit him. The singer paused his performance to address the crowd, visibly agitated as he questioned who was responsible. Videos circulating online show him identifying an individual, engaging in a verbal exchange, and asking security to intervene. In the escalation that followed, Bala was seen throwing the bottle back toward the crowd and spitting in the direction of the alleged offender before resuming his set with a warning against such disruptions.

Addressing the incident on an Instagram live the following day, Bala acknowledged his actions while outlining what led up to them. “This is the fourth time I’ve faced something like this… I’m human, and there’s only so much I can take,” he said. Explaining the sequence, he added, “The issue wasn’t just about one bottle — there had been two earlier incidents as well. But this time, a bottle flew directly and hit my eye. That’s not just disrespectful, it’s a serious safety hazard. It completely broke my flow while performing.” He admitted fault for his reaction, saying, “I reacted out of impulse… I spat, and I shouldn’t have done that. I take responsibility for that.” At the same time, he emphasised the larger issue of crowd behaviour: “Crossing physical boundaries, throwing objects, or getting aggressive is absolutely not okay.”
Recalling past experiences, he said, “In Bengaluru, someone behaved inappropriately with me. In Delhi, I was hit on the head... In Kanpur, people were throwing cigarette butts.” He added, “I’m exhausted… but I would handle it differently next time.”
