Dark side of Ibiza Final Boss' fame - thug attack, brutal dumping and 'secret' child
The summer of 2025 brought about an Ibizan Cinderella story nobody saw coming, but Jack Kay's rags-to-riches tale has since taken a dark turn.
The 26-year-old Geordie lad, best known as'The Ibiza Final Boss', became an internet sensation overnight after footage of him dancing away to his heart's content on the party island was widely shared. It was Jack's distinct appearance, with his 'Lego' haircut, gleaming teeth and huge sunglasses, that appeared to capture the spirit ofIbiza, resulting in an overnight fandom.
Countless memes followed, and the opportunities also came flooding in. Jack went from being an ordinary twentysomething to a minor celebrity in the space of a mates' holiday, even flying back home to Newcastle via private jet. Snapped up by Joey Essex's agent Dave Read of Neon Management, he enjoyed public appearances, brand deals, and even a catchy dance track release. He was soon moving in circles that he could never have imagined before his extraordinary ascent, even meeting with the likes of controversial adult star Bonnie Blue.
• Ibiza Final Boss attacked in bar by four thugs 'wielding weapons'
As Jack would later reflect in a Channel 4 documentary, The Ibiza Final Boss: UNTOLD: "The past five, six weeks, you couldn't write that. It felt like a movie. The world made us famous - I'm the chosen one. Where I'm from is a council estate. Not much happens around there for people like me. People like me don't get the chance to make it to this level. It's like a dream, honest to God."
But as Jack would discover for himself, there were two very different sides to the trappings of fame, and while he was cheered on every step of the way by fans, there were those looking to tear him down. Here we look at his rollercoaster life since, including reports that he was recently a victim of a savage attack...
Shocking attackIt's not all been glitz and glam for the viral Geordie lad. Jack was recently left injured after being attacked in a bar by four masked men who, onlookers say, were armed with weapons. The 26-year-old was reportedly grabbed by the men and hurled across the room at The Runhead pub in Ryton, Tyne and Wear.
A source told The Sun that their pal had been having a drink at the pub and grill spot when the apparent attack kicked off. They said: "The Ibiza Final Boss was there. Then four masked people came in with weapons and threw him across the bar. My mate called me when he was in there and said it's all kicking off. He said everyone got locked in the pub. They must have been waiting for the police."
Emergency crews rushed to the scene at approximately 5.45 pm last Friday, and Jack suffered minor injuries. A barman who witnessed the alleged assault said: "I was here and got caught up in it. It was a shock. I am just glad everyone involved was OK."
Northumbria Police have since launched a probe and have appealed to members of the public for any information. A spokesperson said: "It was reported that four men chased another man into the premises before assaulting him.
"Officers attended the scene, but none of the men, including the victim, were located at the scene. It was later confirmed that the victim – a man in his 20s –sustained a minor injury in the incident. Those involved are believed to be known to each other, and there is not believed to be a wider risk to the public."
Dark family past exposedIn Jack's Channel 4 documentary, the partym man spoke of his anguish after personal details about his private life became public knowledge. This even included his dad's criminal history, much to Jack's dismay.
It was revealed that his father, John Kay, had been jailed for armed robbery, and had been in and out of prison for over a decade, the Daily Mail reports. His latest stint in prison came in 2023, where he was jailed for two and a half years. It marked the third time he had been jailed for burglary.
On Christmas Eve 2021, John broke into an elderly man's home, stealing a pair of keys from his house and driving off. In 2015, John was imprisoned for stealing £700 worth of jewellery and personal items from a woman's home, and in 2009, was jailed for an armed robbery at a petrol station.
Addressing the situation in the documentary, Jack said: "At the end of the day, that's my dad, it's not me. Articles are trying say I'm like him, but that's not the case. My dad has made wrong choices in his life and I hope he gets out, when he gets out and he's a better person."
The 26-year-old continued: "It didn't affect us seeing them, it just agitates you. Why do you want to post things about people to try and bring them down?"
Dramatic dumpingWhile Jack appeared to be on cloud nine as he navigated his new role as a social media personality, behind the beaming posts, he was nursing a heartbreak. Mere days into the Ibiza trip that would change his life, Jack's girlfriend, Alisha Cook, reportedly became infuriated by his love of raving and gave him his marching orders.
It's claimed that the party holiday was the last straw for debt collector Alisha, who hails from Co Durham, with fun-loving Jack having already been "skating on thin ice". A pal of Jack's told the Daily Mail at the time: "Alisha called it off when Jack went to Ibiza with the lads. They'd been together for almost a year, and he was living at her place, but things hadn't been right for months.
"His car is still on her drive, she threw all his clothes in the back of it. She doesn't want him around anymore. She's had inklings that something was not right for a while. She just wants to wash her hands of him. Alisha is so beautiful. No one is quite sure what she saw in him."
It's believed Jack managed to smooth things over with glamorous Alisha, but it remains a mystery as to whether they are together now.
When he first went viral, Alisha publicly declared herself as his other half as social media filled with images of his signature grin and chunky gold chains.
In a series of TikTok vids captioned: "POV: ya boyfriend's now known as Ibiza Final Boss," Alisha could be seen cosying up to Jack quite happily, with one clip seeing him plant a kiss on his cheek.
Jack's new fanbase had plenty to say about the relationship in the comments section, with one follower joking: "At least you know he didn't cheat — he's been filmed from every angle on TikTok just having a ball." Taking aim at Jack's 'Battle of Hastings haircut', another teased: "Have a word with his barber — I don't know how he leaves the house."
Eyewatering fortuneWhile Jack has certainly had to deal with plenty of pitfalls, it's understood that his new career in the spotlight has proved very lucrative indeed. The Sun reported in January that Jack is now a millionaire, having added a cool £200,000 to the £800,000 he raked in during the first six weeks of his viral fame. It's claimed Jack can earn £2,000 per Instagram post, while appearances, including at rave festival Creamfields, have helped line his pockets nicely.
In the documentary, Jack, who now drives a £55,000 Range Rover SVR, shared how he was keen to bring in as much money as he could for the sake of his 'secret' daughter. He explained: "I'm trying to keep myself on a level head with it because I've got a little daughter back home, I had nothing growing up, so to give her the life when she's older, she can have anything she wants, is just unbelievable."
And it would appear he's not done making a name for himself yet. Reflecting on the mind-blowing year he'd had shortly before New Year's Eve, Jack, who is now believed to be planning his own festival, reflected: "2025 you have been a movie best time of my life I've had this year made some of the best memories of my life and met some unbelievable people. Hope every one had a good Christmas and I wish yous a happy new year. 2026 let’s go big things coming."
