1 cup jackfruit seeds
1 teaspoon oil
½ teaspoon cumin or mustard seeds
A pinch of asafoetida
1 finely chopped green chili
Regular salt to taste
½ teaspoon chaat masala or dried mango powder
A pinch of garam masala
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Finely chopped coriander
Chopped onion and tomato
1 boiled potato
Roasted peanuts
Step-by-Step Guide to Making Jackfruit Seed Chaat
Step 1: Boil the Seeds
First, wash the jackfruit seeds thoroughly and boil them in a pressure cooker with water for about 2-3 whistles. Once cooled, peel the seeds and chop them into small pieces.
Step 2: Prepare the Potatoes
Boil the potato in the pressure cooker as well. After cooking, cut the potato into small cubes and set aside.
Step 3: Tempering the Mixture
Heat 1 teaspoon of oil in a pan. Add cumin or mustard seeds, followed by asafoetida and finely chopped green chili. Sauté lightly. Then, add the boiled jackfruit seeds and chopped potatoes, and sauté for about 12 minutes.
