Did Margot Robbie wear Charlotte Brontë real bracelet as fans left fuming
Margot Robbie wore what appeared to be Charlotte Brontë's 175 year old bracelet as she graced the red carpet of London's Wuthering Heights premiere on Thursday night. The Australian actress has upped her fashion game to promote her new movie in which she plays Catherine (Cathy) Earnshaw in the new Emerald Fennell adaptation of the only novel written by Emily Brontë.
Originally written under the pen name of Ellis Bell, Wuthering Heights explores the dark romance between Catherine Earnshaw and orphan Heathcliff, as well as her marriage to Edgar Linton.
On Thursday's premiere Margot was seen appearing to wear what looked like Charlotte Brontë's original mourning bracelet, dating back 175 years. The mourning bracelet, which is normally on show at the Brontë Parsonage in Haworth, West Yorkshire, is believed to be made with the intertwined hair of Charlotte's dead sisters, Emily and Anne.

At the centre of the bracelet is a glistening amethyst. Wearing the hair of a deceased relative was the thing to do in the middle and upper classes during the early Victorian era, due to the wearer being able to find comfort, as photographs were a rarity.
One fan of Margot said on X, formerly known as Twitter: "Margot Robbie is wearing the bracelet that belonged to Charlotte Brontë." Another fan followed up with a picture of the display at the Brontë Parsonage, where the bracelet is normally on display. However, the cabinet was empty, with a note saying: "Temporarily removed from display."
Alongside the image, the fan wrote: "I knew it." But when they were accused of sharing misinformation, the fan responded: "I took that photo today, not claiming to know whether M.R wore the real or a replica just had said to my husband I bet the item was removed as something to do with the press tour. There's no misinformation."
"I just don't think celebrities should be allowed to wear pieces like this," said another. Another fumed: "I think this is utterly disrespectful. Nobody should be wearing this. It belongs where it should be displayed, not on some celebrity for a poxy premiere of a w**k remake of Wuthering Heights. Disgust!"
However, Margot didn't wear the original. Instead, a team of talented designers created a replica of the original. Her replica was created by Wyedean Weaving, a family-owned business in West Yorkshire, close to Haworth where the Brontë sisters resided.
Sharing a snap of the replica on social media, Margot's stylist Andrew Mukamal said on Instagram: "Our custom replica created in partnership between @wyedean & @bronteparsonagemuseum." Meanwhile, Rebecca Yorke, the Brontë Parsonage director, said: "The [Brönte Parsonage Museum] holds the world's largest collections of Brontë manuscripts, clothing and personal possessions, and we take our responsibility as custodians extremely seriously.
"This event has offered us an unprecedented opportunity to share an item from our collection and tell its story with a global and contemporary audience, and we are delighted that, thanks to director Emerald Fennell, Margot Robbie and everyone involved with the film, Emily Brontë and her masterpiece continue to be part of popular culture almost 200 years after her death."
