Did you know about Ranveer Singh's Lahore roots before Dhurandhar 2?
Dhurandhar The Revenge has created a buzz not only with its gripping storyline but also for Ranveer Singh's best performance till date. Ranveer Singh has every now and then proved his caliber and maintained what he has to offer to the public-energetic performance.
His journey is often seen as that of a complete outsider-someone who made it big purely through hard work and determination. However, not many know that his story quietly connects to a much older chapter of Indian cinema.
"Dancing Lily Of Punjab"
Ranveer Singh’s grandmother, Chand Burke, was once a well-known actress, famously called the “Dancing Lily of Punjab” for her grace and dancing skills. She began her career in Lahore, which was an important film hub before the Partition of India in 1947. At the time, she had already built a name for herself and was admired for her screen presence.
The Partition changed everything. Like many families, she had to leave Lahore and move to India, a shift that deeply affected both her life and career. Starting again in Mumbai, she continued acting in Hindi films and worked in notable projects. While she remained respected for her talent, her career could not fully reach its earlier potential due to the challenges of that period.
Beyond films, she built a life with her family. Her son later became Ranveer Singh’s father, and the family also had a strong academic and professional background, including members who served in important government roles.
Ranveer Singh's entry in Indian Cinema
Despite this connection to cinema, Ranveer Singh did not have an easy entry into Bollywood. He built his career on his own, going through auditions and struggles before becoming a leading star. The actor made his Bollywood debut with Yash Raj Film's Band Baaja Baraat and since then spreading his magic among the audience. Some of his best films are- Bajirao Mastaani, Padmavat, Lootera, Rocky Rani Ki Prem Kahaani and many others.
Currently, Ranveer Singh is basking on the glorious success of Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar The Revenge which has successful crossed Rs 1000 crore mark globally and that too withing 7 day of its release.
