'Dune: Part Three': Robert Pattinson debuts as Scytale - All about his character
Robert Pattinson has done a lot of things in his career. He has played a vampire, a Batman, a lighthouse keeper losing his mind, and a cosmonaut adrift in space. But nothing quite prepared anyone for what showed up in the ' Dune: Part Three ' trailer. The first look at Denis Villeneuve 's final chapter in the trilogy dropped on March 17, and while Timothée Chalamet 's buzz cut is turning heads, it is Pattinson 's transformation that has completely taken over the conversation.

Pattinson plays Scytale, a menacing shapeshifter who shows up with pale white skin, a bleached-blond buzz cut, and shaved eyebrows. The trailer shows Scytale appearing just as Paul tells Lady Jessica, "War feeds on itself. The more I fight, the more enemies fight back," making his entrance feel deliberately timed and deeply ominous. His character is a Face Dancer, a genetically engineered shapeshifter, capable of changing his appearance at will to imitate anyone he has seen, making him a master manipulator and one of the most dangerous figures in Paul's empire. The trailer catches multiple glimpses of Scytale, first shown with his bleached blonde hair as a floating item travels behind him, and then later on Arrakis, wearing a stillsuit and carefully assessing various Fremen, possibly so he can change his appearance to match one of them and get closer to Paul. What Pattinson said about playing ScytalePattinson was not shy about his excitement at being part of the franchise. As reported by Variety, he told the audience at the trailer launch event that he had been a fan of the films long before he got the call. "I absolutely adored these movies, saw them multiple times in the theater. I was talking to you on the set of 'The Drama,'" he said, turning to Zendaya. "I was like, 'How do I get in one of those Dune movies?' It was a very unexpected call a few months later."
On Scytale specifically, he told, "He's an unusual character in the book. I mean, you can't really tell whose side he's on, and it's kind of what makes him quite interesting." He went further, adding, "I wouldn't say he's a conventional bad guy, as such. He might even be a good guy. Who knows! I will also find out when I see the movie. It's an extremely fun character to play, and the look of it is quite extraordinary." Speaking to IndieWire about filming in the desert, he added, "When I was doing Dune, it was so hot in the desert that I just couldn't question anything. And it was so relaxing, like my brain actually wasn't operating. I did not have a single functioning brain cell. And I was just listening to Denis: 'Whatever you want!'" 'Dune: Part Three': TrailerThe trailer opens with a tender moment between Paul and Chani quietly discussing baby names before cutting to explosive glimpses of galactic conflict. Paul is seen asking his mother, Lady Jessica, played by Rebecca Ferguson, whether he will survive what is coming. But by the final moments, he has shed any uncertainty, declaring with a shaved head and full resolve: "I'm not afraid to die, but I must not die yet."
The cast also includes Florence Pugh, Jason Momoa, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Javier Bardem. The film is set to hit theatres on December 18, where it will go up against 'Avengers: Doomsday' at the box office.
Three films, over a decade in the making, and from the look of this trailer, Denis Villeneuve is not going out quietly.
