Google has partnered with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), allowing users in India to now save their Aadhaar card details directly within the Google Wallet app. The objective of this new feature is to make the verification process more seamless and convenient, eliminating the need for people to carry a physical card with them wherever they go.

According to Google, users can now save their Aadhaar as a "Verifiable Credential" on their mobile devices. This means that your Aadhaar information will be stored securely on your phone and can be used for verification purposes—both online and offline—whenever required. Now, let's find out how to save your Aadhaar card to Google Wallet...

How to Save Aadhaar to Google Wallet

Adding your Aadhaar card to Google Wallet is a very simple process. To do so, you will need to complete a verification step using a One-Time Password (OTP) sent to the mobile number registered with UIDAI. Here is the complete step-by-step guide:

First, download the latest version of the Google Wallet app.
Open the Google Wallet app and tap on the "+" or "Add to Wallet" option located on the home screen.

From the menu, select the option to add an "ID Pass" or "Aadhaar Card."
Next, you will need to verify your Aadhaar details through the official UIDAI portal. To complete this, an OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number; simply enter this OTP to complete the verification process.

Alternatively, if you are using the newly updated UIDAI Aadhaar app, you can generate your Aadhaar as a "Verifiable Credential" directly within that app and then add it to Google Wallet using the "Share ID" option. Once the verification is complete, your digital Aadhaar card will be saved in Google Wallet in a secure and encrypted format.
