Holi Skin Care Tips

What to apply on face before playing Holi: Holi is a festival of colors, fun, and frolic. But the truth is, our skin and hair don't get as much joy as we do. Once the celebrations are over, many people face problems like dryness, itching, rashes, dull hair, and stubborn color stains that linger for days. The damage actually begins not during the color play, but before, when we go out unprepared.

Chemical dyes, intense sun exposure, and frequent washing can strip your skin and hair of its natural moisture. Therefore, a little common sense can save you from further problems. According to a report by Tata's health website, Tata1mg, here are some ways you can prepare for this.

Apply oil to the hair thoroughly.

Dry hair tends to stick faster and is harder to remove later. A few hours before leaving the house, massage your scalp and hair thoroughly with coconut, almond, or mustard oil. Apply the oil from roots to ends. Afterward, tie your hair in a braid or bun to minimize damage.

Make sure to apply moisturizer.

Apply more moisturizer than usual on Holi. Colors absorb moisture from the skin, leading to irritation and blemishes. Apply a generous layer to the face, neck, hands, feet, and behind the ears. If desired, apply a little coconut or olive oil to lock in moisture.

Don't forget to apply sunscreen.

Holi is mostly played outdoors. Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 20 minutes beforehand. Don't leave your face, neck, hands, or feet untouched. Reapplying is also essential if you play for extended periods.

Lip, nail, and eye protection

Apply a thick layer of lip balm or a little ghee to your lips. Apply nail polish to your nails to prevent the color from seeping in. Apply oil or cream to your cuticles. For your eyes, avoid contact lenses and wear sunglasses.

Choose the right clothes.

The most important thing is choosing the right clothing. Full-sleeved cotton clothing is best. Wear loose-fitting clothing to prevent the colors from rubbing against your skin. If desired, cover your hair with a scarf or cap. Also, lightly scrub your face the night before Holi to remove dead skin, then apply moisturizer or a yogurt-honey pack. Avoid waxing or shaving immediately before. And most importantly, drink plenty of water.
