According to the airline's decision, a fuel surcharge of ₹399 will be added to every domestic flight ticket starting March 12th. This means that if you book a ticket for travel within the country, you will have to pay this additional charge in addition to the base fare and taxes. This rule applies not only to Air India but also to Air India Express flights.

The company has also clarified that this surcharge will also apply to flights to SAARC countries. The airline says that the rise in jet fuel prices has significantly increased operational costs, making this step necessary to offset these rising costs.

Surcharges will increase on international routes as well

Fuel surcharges have been revised not only on domestic but also on international routes. Flights to West Asia will be charged an additional ₹10 per ticket. On African routes, this charge has been increased to ₹90, an increase from the previous level. The surcharge for Southeast Asia has also been increased, reaching $60.

Notably, this charge will now apply to flights to and from Singapore, whereas previously, no such surcharge was levied there. The airline stated that the situation in the Gulf and rising jet fuel prices have led to this decision, which could increase the overall ticket price in the future.
