Your scalp produces natural oils (sebum) that nourish and protect your hair. Washing too often strips these oils, leaving hair dry. Not washing enough, on the other hand, can lead to buildup and itchiness.

  • Dry or Curly Hair: Can go longer about 3-5 days since natural oils take time to travel down curls.

Lifestyle Counts Too

If you exercise daily, live in a humid climate, or use a lot of styling products, you may need to wash more often. But if you spend most of your time indoors, your hair can go longer without a wash.

Gentle, sulfate-free shampoos make it easier to wash more frequently without damaging your strands, while stronger cleansers are better left for occasional use.
