Market to Remain Closed on Maharashtra Day
On Friday, May 1, 2026, the stock market will observe a holiday on the occasion of Maharashtra Day. This day is celebrated annually to commemorate the formation of the state of Maharashtra. Consequently, all forms of trading on both the NSE and BSE will remain completely suspended.
Partial Trading on MCX
While the stock market will remain completely closed on May 1st, the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will not observe a complete shutdown. The morning session on the MCX—from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM—will remain closed. However, trading will continue as usual during the evening session, from 5:00 PM until 11:55 PM.
