ITV eyes up Tess Daly and Vernon Kay for This Morning hosting gig
ITV bosses reportedly have their eye on Tess Daly and Vernon Kay to host This Morning. The broadcaster is said to be considering the couple for the gig should current hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard's contracts come to an end.
Tess and Vernon have been married since 2003 and both work in television. Vernon has hosted a series of shows, including fellow ITV daytime program Loose Women when it aired a 'Loose Men' special. Meanwhile, Tess has had great success hosting BBC hit series Strictly Come Dancing, but decided to step down at the end of the last series after over 20 years on the show.

The two hosted an episode of The One Show recently, and their natural chemistry has reportedly caught the eye of ITV bosses. According to The Sun, a source said: "It was a total no-brainer the second they saw them on The One Show sofa. Execs have been sweet on Vernon for ages, but the pair's natural husband-and-wife banter made them realise exactly what This Morning has been missing."
They added that the bosses at This Morning are "obsessed" with recreating the "effortless magic" of married duo Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan and feel Tess and Vernon can offer that. The source also said that Cat and Ben's contracts with This Morning will end this spring.
Tess and Vernon shared the screen on This Morning recently, when they stood in for Alex Jones and Roman Kemp. The usual presenters were busy filming the BBC's 500 words story competition at Windsor Castle.
Fans praised Tess' presenting skills. One wrote: "It was so lovely to see you on the TV Tess. I let out an 'ahhhh' when I saw you with your lovely hubby."
Another added: "You did great tess, hope you'll be on again soon." A third said: "You and Vern presenting together is everything. Loved it." And a fourth continued: "You were so relaxed, be lovely to see you again."
This was the first time in two decades that Tess and Vernon have worked together, but they first met when they were both working as presenters for separate shows. Vernon was hosting Channel 4's T4 when he met Tess, who presented SMTV on ITV every Saturday. They went on to host BBC singing competition Just The Two of Us together in 2006.
Tess previously opened up about her relationship with Vernon. She told Digital Spy: "It was all quite immediate, really, because we instantly had such a blast together. I couldn't imagine having more fun with anyone else. It was pretty explosive, I tell you."
Meanwhile Cat and Ben have been the primary hosts on This Morning since 2024. The two took over after both Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby left the show the year before.
The Mirror has approached ITV for comment.
