Kaun Banega Crorepati 17: Shafali Varma's hilarious banter with host Amitabh Bachchan post-victory cravings and dieting
In an upcoming laughter-filled episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 17, India’s youngest cricket star Shafali Varma, along with her teammates from the India Women’s Cricket Team, joins Amitabh Bachchan for a delightful evening of stories, camaraderie, and playful teasing.
During a light-hearted exchange, Amitabh Bachchan jokingly asked Shafali whether the team was allowed to indulge in junk food during the tournament. Pulling her coach’s leg, she mischievously responded, “Nahi sir, Coach bol rahe hai, Coach se puchiye.” Backing her up, teammate Sneh Rana chimed “Sir hum inse bhi dieting karvate hai,” prompting Amitabh to laugh and remark, “Ha yeh achi baat hai.”
Curious about their post-victory cravings, Amitabh asks Acha abhi toh aap logo ne kaafi dabakar pizza khaya hoga, after winning, toh abhi winning toh kya yeh bohot badi winning hogayi,” before cheekily turning to the coach with,“Toh sir pureh saal bhar tak pizza khane denge aap inhe? Ab toh ye world cup jeet kar aaye hain. Ab inhe junk food allowed kar do.” To which Amol Mazumdar replied hilariously “Nahi” sent the entire team and audience into laughter.
In another segment, Shefali opened up about her debut match in which she scored zero. Speaking about her formative years, Shafali shared, “My family wasn’t financially strong, and my father first took my brother to cricket coaching. I would go along and tease him from behind, telling him the drills looked easy. One day, my father asked me to try it myself, and the first two balls I played, I hit well, and he was impressed. There were no women’s cricket academies near our home, so I started playing with boys. When my brother fell sick before a tournament, I wore his T-shirt with his name ‘Sahil’ on it and played in his place… and I ended up becoming the Player of the Tournament. That was the turning point of my life.”
When Amitabh Bachchan asked Shafali how much she scored on her India debut, she revealed with a shy smile that her first-ever innings began with zero runs, adding that she felt embarrassed about it. Amitabh ji immediately reassured her, saying, “Don’t be embarrassed… jiska zero hota hai, baadme jaake hero hota hai.”
