Kitchen item that clears frozen windscreens in seconds

Newspoint

The UK is currently experiencing a chilly spell with freezing temperatures sweeping across the nation. Waking up and facing the day in theseicy conditions is tough enough, but discovering your car windscreen frozen over can really put a damper on your morning.

During winter, this is a common problem throughout the UK, and everyone has their own way of tackling it. One thing you should absolutely avoid is pouring hot or boiling water over your frosty vehicle.

This is because the abrupt temperature shift can crack your windscreen, leaving you with an expensive repair bill.

However, there's a trick to de-ice your car and warm your hands on a frosty morning using just a ziplock sandwich bag.

To utilise this hack, simply half-fill the bag with warm water - not boiling. Warm tap water should suffice, reports the Express.

Then, ensure the bag is securely sealed and take it out to your car.

Gently glide the bag over your windscreen and watch as the ice dissolves. Even better, this method doubles as a hand warmer.

Just remember to mop up any leftover water to prevent it from re-freezing and you're all set.

You can also concoct your own de-icer spray at home to help keep your car frost-free.

If you fancy giving this a go, all you need is water and rubbing alcohol. Mix half a cup of water with half a cup of rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle and spritz your car.

The ice should vanish within minutes.

You can also use it as a preventative measure.

If temperatures are predicted to take a nosedive, give spraying the de-icer over your car in the evening a go. Come morning, your car should be frost-free.
