LPG Price Hike: Domestic Cylinder Cost Up by ₹60, Commercial Cylinder Gets ₹115 Costlier
In a fresh blow to household budgets, LPG cylinder prices in India have increased significantly, affecting both domestic and commercial consumers. Oil marketing companies have raised the price of the 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder by ₹60, while the price of the 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has increased by ₹114.5.
The price revision comes amid rising global energy costs triggered by escalating geopolitical tensions in West Asia
The revised prices came into effect from March 7, 2026, according to information available on the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) website.
New LPG Cylinder Prices in Major CitiesFollowing the latest hike, the price of the 14.2 kg non-subsidised domestic LPG cylinder
-
Delhi: ₹913 (earlier ₹853)
-
Mumbai: ₹912.50
-
Kolkata: ₹939
-
Chennai: ₹928.50
The price varies slightly from city to city due to local taxes and VAT charged by state governments.
This marks the first price revision for domestic LPG cylinders since April 8, 2025, when prices were increased by ₹50.
Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices Also RiseThe price increase is even steeper for commercial LPG cylinders used by restaurants, hotels, and catering businesses
After the latest revision, the price of the 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder now stands at:
-
Delhi: ₹1,883
-
Mumbai: ₹1,835
-
Kolkata: ₹1,990
-
Chennai: ₹2,043.50
The latest increase of ₹114.5 comes just days after another price revision on March 1, 2026, when commercial LPG cylinder prices were raised by around ₹28–31.
Commercial LPG Prices Have Increased Multiple TimesOver the past few months, commercial LPG cylinder prices have been revised several times.
-
March 1, 2026: Prices increased by about ₹28–31
-
February 2026: Prices rose by around ₹49
-
January 2026: Prices increased by approximately ₹111
-
December 2025: Prices had seen a slight reduction
With the latest hike, commercial LPG prices have increased four times within the past three months, putting additional pressure on businesses that depend heavily on LPG for daily operations.
Industry experts warn that rising commercial LPG prices may indirectly impact restaurant food prices and service costs, as businesses pass on part of the increased costs to consumers.
Despite the increase in domestic LPG prices, beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) will continue to receive government support.
More than 10 crore low-income households that received free LPG connections under the scheme are eligible for a ₹300 subsidy per cylinder for up to 12 refills per year
This subsidy helps reduce the financial burden on economically weaker families despite the rise in LPG prices.
Global Energy Prices Driving the IncreaseIndustry officials say the recent price hike is largely linked to rising global energy costs, which have surged following military tensions in West Asia.
On February 28, 2026, Israel and the United States reportedly launched air strikes against Iran, escalating geopolitical tensions in the region. Iran responded with missile and drone attacks targeting Israel and other locations in the Middle East.
Such geopolitical conflicts often disrupt global energy supply chains, pushing up the prices of crude oil and related fuels.
LPG Prices in India Still Lower Than Many CountriesDespite the recent increase, industry experts claim that cooking gas prices in India remain lower compared to several neighboring countries.
Government policies, subsidies for vulnerable households, and price regulation mechanisms continue to play an important role in keeping LPG prices relatively affordable for consumers.
The price hike is expected to affect both households and businesses. While domestic consumers will feel the direct impact through higher cooking gas bills, restaurants and food service providers may face increased operating costs.
Experts suggest that global energy market trends and geopolitical developments will continue to influence LPG pricing in the coming months.
For now, consumers across India will need to adjust to the latest increase in LPG cylinder prices, which adds to the rising cost of living for many households.
