LPG Booking: Amidst a shortage of gas cylinders, the government has revealed that online bookings for cylinders have increased. Although there has been no significant improvement in the global situation just yet, signs of improvement are nevertheless visible in certain areas.
LPG Bookings Increased: The situation between the US and Iran remains unchanged for the time being, a factor that is impacting the global supply of gas, petrol, and diesel. Against this backdrop, the government has now disclosed that there has been a rise in online bookings for LPG gas cylinders. Priority is currently being accorded to domestic LPG supply, and the delivery rate—measured against industry benchmarks—has reached 99 percent.
Rise in DAC-Based Deliveries
The government recently announced that deliveries authenticated via the Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) have increased. Consequently, the overall cylinder delivery rate has risen to approximately 92 percent. The DAC is received on your registered mobile number. The Ministry of Petroleum stated, “Many LPG distributors are working even on Sundays to ensure that no household faces a shortage of domestic LPG cylinders.” Furthermore, the Ministry noted that the total allocation of commercial LPG has been increased to approximately 70 percent of pre-crisis levels, a figure that includes a 10 percent allocation specifically aimed at facilitating recovery efforts.
Status of Commercial Cylinders
The Ministry also reported that, since March 23, 2026, more than 18.45 lakh (1.845 million) 5-kg ‘Free Trade LPG’ cylinders have been sold. A three-member committee—comprising Executive Directors from IOCL, HPCL, and BPCL—is currently engaged in discussions with state officials and industry stakeholders to formulate a strategic plan for commercial LPG distribution across various states and Union Territories. Over the past five days, an average of more than 7,000 metric tonnes of commercial LPG has been sold daily.
People Are Also Opting for PNG Connections
Furthermore, government data indicates that since March 2026, over 493,000 PNG connections have been commissioned. Additionally, more than 551,000 consumers have registered for new connections. As of April 19, approximately 39,200 PNG consumers have surrendered their LPG connections through the MYPNGD.in website.
