Madonna biopic returns after being scrapped, pop icon's life story reimagined as a series - Reports
A few years ago, it was revealed that the earlier planned biopic on Madonna and her life had been cancelled. However, according to the latest reports, the film is back on track and under development. Here is all that we know about the matter.
Madonna’s biopic back on track after cancellation
Radar Online recently confirmed the news through their report: the biopic, which was planned to tell Madonna’s rise to fame, has returned to development. After being cancelled, the project is being considered again; however, this time the concept of the biopic has been reimagined as a series.
A statement from the report read, “She will not take no for an answer. This is her story – and she’s going to tell it her way.” Madonna is also said to be heavily involved in the project, and reportedly wishes to be “hands-on” with the biopic series.
Another statement providing more insight into why the biopic may be turned into a series adds that “Madonna realized the story is too big for two hours. She wants the full ride – the struggle, the ambition, the chaos.” The earlier project, which was being worked on as a film, will now be reconsidered to be turned into a series to fit the required content.
Madonna’s biopic cancellation
Earlier in 2023, it was revealed that the biopic project about Madonna’s life and rise to fame as a pop star icon had been officially scrapped. Variety had reported that the biopic, which reportedly starred actress Julia Garner as Madonna, has been taken off the board. Around the same time, the singer started her world tour. As per the reports shared at the time, the singer’s “sole focus is the tour, but she remains committed to making a film about her life one day.” The project was first reported to be in development 6 years ago in 2020.
