More heartbreak for Alice Evans as father dies after losing bitter court battle
Alice Evans has shared the sad news that her dad David has passed away, just months after losing her brother. The actress – who was recently back in court to face her ex-husband Ioan Gruffudd– revealed her father had died on Friday, sharing an emotional post with fans.
Alongside a string of images, Alice shared how her beloved dad had taught her ‘how to laugh’ and 'not care what people think.' In her tribute, Alice wrote: "Dear Dad, You left us on Friday. Only six months after the death of your beloved son Tony. Now all three of you are gone – you, Mum, Tony and it's just me and Phil from the OG family.

"I hope the three of you are together. I hope there is a place where we get to see the people we've lost and that the three of you are having a blast, free from pain and the worry and anxiety and sometimes pure hell of life on earth.
"I hope you know how much wisdom you passed on to me that I am now passing on to my girls. Your crazy maths problems, brain teasers, your brilliant anecdotes, encompassing both the respect you had for the incredibly high position you reached in the world of academia, and at times the absurdity of the whole system.
"You taught me to laugh. You taught me that there is humor in almost anything. You taught me to play the piano. You taught me not to care what people thought because 'if you do A, they'll say you should have done B. And if you do B they'll say you should have done A'. That stayed with me forever.
"Godspeed, Dad. Give Mum and Tone the biggest hug from me. David Vincent Evans 27th October 1940. – 13th March 2026 RIP."
In August, Alice revealed her younger brother Tony has passed away. Alice had previously spoken about her sibling's health issues and the trauma he has experienced in his life and often described him as one of her favourite people.
Alice's news comes after a bitter court battle with her ex-husband. Earlier this month, a judge ruled that a domestic restraining order against her would be renewed for a further five years. The former couple were at the centre of one of Hollywood's most bitter break ups, with Alice previously alleging that she had been left unable to buy food or pay utility bills following their split.
Ioan and Alice met on a film set in 1999 and tied the knot in Mexico in 2007 and had daughters Ella and Elsie together before they split in January 2021. Welsh actor Ioan tied the knot Bianca Wallace in 2025 and the couple welcomed a child in November.
In 2022, Evans was banned from mentioning Hornblower actor Gruffudd, 52, on social media after he alleged she used accounts to “harass, threaten and disturb the peace" of him and wife Bianca. Alice, who appeared in The Vampire Diaries and Lost, was urged to keep 100ft away from the couple.
A judge noted that Alice had violated the terms of the original restraining order 'multiple times' and must keep to the rules until at least 2031.
Judge Convey described Evans’s flurry of social media posts aimed at her ex partner and his new wife as a “concerted, focused, intentional and caustic campaign of denigration”, adding that her “threats of force and intimidation” led to fears of their “physical safety”.
“She intended to hurt him economically and damage his career," he added.
