New Balance sale shoes hailed as 'ideal for long hours of standing and walking'
Trainers have undergone a renaissance over the years, evolving from just an exercise shoe to a key piece of any wardrobe. They can be dressed up or down and worn for pretty much any occasion.
Fashion fans have found a pair from New Balance that ticks the versatility box, as they commend it for being 'comfortable and stylish', and also suitable for wear when shoppers spend a lot of time on their feet. The 471 shoes from New Balance will cost shoppers £54, reduced from the full price of £90, saving shoppers 40%.
They come in a bisque with a flat taupe colour option, which is available at the lowest price of £54 from all the colour options. Shoppers can also consider other options, including dark olivine with woodland (reduced to £63), shoreline blue with NB navy (reduced to £63), and castlerock with black, also priced at £63.
They're available in sizes three through to 13, but shoppers should check each colour option for available sizes as some are sold out already. However, the bisque is available in sizes 3.5 through to 10.
These shoes sit perfectly between the retro runner and everyday trainer, making them a versatile wardrobe staple. The brand says the 471 "transforms '70s running heritage into a new, everyday go-to" style, and the mix of suede, mesh and leather in soft neutral tones gives them a low-key, sophisticated feel rather than a gym-only look.
They have a wedge-shaped EVA midsole and a herringbone outsole, while the 'fang' toebox overlay pattern is unique to New Balance and is "inspired by the design of the original 320". Additionally, leather accents at the collar and heel also give the shoe a stylish flair.
Styling them is easy too, and they'd work just as well with straight-leg jeans as they do with more tailored trousers. They'll also complete a relaxed look, with on-trend barrel pants and a cashmere jumper for the weekend. Because the colours are muted, they pair easily with cream, navy and charcoal, making them a practical addition to an every-season wardrobe.
There are other options for shoppers who want to look elsewhere. New Look has the Dark Burgundy Contrast Panel Faux Suede Slim Sole Trainers for £29.99. Also available in a black contrast colour option, they come in UK sizes four to eight and feature a slim sole.
For a more pricey option, Asos has the Adidas Originals Animal SL 72 OG Trainers for £67.50, instead of £90. These funky-looking trainers are said to be a blend of a "classic sport with lifestyle running" trainer, and the animal print is eye-catching.
With 73 reviews online, of which nearly 70% are five stars, one customer who bought the New Balance 471 said: "I extremely recommend it to people who work long hours. Extremely comfortable and stylish."
Someone also recommended them for wearing if standing for a long time, saying: "They are very comfortable. The width is perfect. The footbed is soft. Perfect fit and ideal for long hours of standing and walking."
One person had some sizing advice saying: "Great shoes though I needed a half size up from what I originally ordered."
While another shopper said: "Love this shoe. This style is probably my favourite. I have narrow feet so they are perfect for my feet. I use them mostly for running errands around town or on a stroll. There was a clicking in the insole but went away with wearing them. I would purchase another colour, off white. True to size."
However, one three-star review said: "Love the retro design and materials. Not sure how the unfinished tongue with the exposed foam will hold up over time. Ultimately keeping the shoe."
Another self-confessed New Balance fan said: "I am a big NB fan and have purchased their sneakers many times. These once again, do not disappoint. They fit perfectly, very comfortable and are super cute! Happy with the purchase."
