Paloma Faith broke down in tears recalling the death of a friend who passed away moments after she spoke to him. The singer and Celebrity Traitors star was left heartbroken in 2022 when her music director friend B.B Bones - whose real name was Kevin Banks - died.

The star revealed that Kevin had battled cancer - but had continued working as he fought the disease. Paloma tearfully described the "slow way" her friend passed away - before going on to reveal that his life inspired her music.

Opening up on her Mad, Sad and Bad podcast, the Only Love Can Hurt Like This singer said: “He was one of my best friends and he died in a really slow way of cancer and he refused to stop working.” She then went on to detail life on the road with him in 2021 as he joined her on tour.

She said: “We did this whole tour, which is really weird and slightly comical because I thought he would be dead by the time we did this tour, and, I’d written all these songs about him. I was going on stage singing songs like If This Is Goodbye about him dying, and he was on stage with me and it was so weird."

She continued: “On the last day of the tour, I remember hugging him for our final bow. And then I said, ‘Is that the last time we’ll ever play together?’ and he said, ‘Yeah, I think so’,” before emotions took over her and she shielded her face.

Paloma went on to explain her heartbreak as Kevin went to a hospice where he later died. She explained that she sent him a voice message telling him to "let go" moments before his death.

She reflected; “I left him a voice note and I said, ‘You’ve done so much and we love you so much, but it’s time for you to go because you’re tired. Don’t hold on anymore because you need a rest. And apparently, two minutes later, he stopped breathing.”

Paloma had previously opened up about her respect and admiration for her friend as she posted a tribute to him on social media following his death three years ago. She stated at the time: “He was one of the most inspiring people in my tribe. We travelled the world with one another, we spent days and nights laughing, musing, working together and loving each other. I am heartbroken that he won’t be on the next tour.”

Paloma often opens up about aspects of her life via her podcast and via social media. Earlier this year, she surprised fans by announcing she is expecting her third baby - taking to Instagram to share her happy news in humorous style.

The singer and actress - who has appeared in movies and TV shows including St Trinian's and Pennyworth - shared photos of herself with her developing bump in October. She wrote in an accompanying caption: "Plot twist, mother is mothering (again).”

She added a string of hashtags, listing “more than geriatric pregnancy,” “oap pregnancy,” and “OAP MILF”. It is believed she expecting her third child with her boyfriend Stevie Thomas, who is the director a music venue in Birmingham.

The star is already a mother to two daughters, born in December 2016 and February 2021, who she shares with her ex-partner Leyman Lahcine - a French artist. The couple were together for a decade - first getting together around 2013 and later announcing their split in 2023.
