Effective May 1st, if an individual deposits or withdraws cash exceeding ₹10 lakh in a financial year from a bank or post office account, they will be required to provide their PAN details.
Additionally, if you incur expenses exceeding ₹1 lakh at a hotel, restaurant, or during an event/function, you will be required to provide your PAN details.

If you purchase a motorcycle or car valued at over ₹5 lakh, providing your PAN details will become mandatory.

Furthermore, if you are purchasing a property valued at over ₹20 lakh, you will be required to provide your PAN details. In essence, the government will be keeping a close watch on all major financial transactions.

Along with this, linking your Aadhaar card with your PAN card has been made mandatory as of January 1, 2026. If you have not completed this process yet, you may face difficulties in the future.

How to Link Aadhaar with PAN?

Step 1: First, visit the Income Tax e-filing portal. If this is your first time visiting the website, proceed to register.

Step 2: After registering, you will need to log in using your User ID and Password.

Step 3: Once logged in, click on the 'Link Aadhaar' option. If you cannot locate this option, navigate to 'Personal Details' within the 'My Profile' section. You will find the 'Link Aadhaar' option there.

Step 4: Next, enter your Aadhaar number and click on the 'Validate' button.

Step 5: Finally, a confirmation message will be displayed on your screen, stating that your Aadhaar has been successfully linked with your PAN.

The request to link your Aadhaar and PAN is forwarded to the UIDAI. The UIDAI will process this request and reactivate the linkage. Additionally, please note that you are now required to pay a fee to link your PAN with your Aadhaar.
