Primark shoppers 'need' £15 bag that looks just like £1,900 designer version

When you're in need of a new outfit but don't want to break the bank, Primark is the place to be. The retailer, which has over 190 stores in the UK, is known for its affordable fashion, beauty, skincare and accessories.

Many of Primark's offerings resemble much more expensive versions, so they're perfect if you're on a budget. Handbags, especially designer ones, can cost thousands of pounds - but one Primark find has been hugely popular amongst shoppers. It looks just like a Balenciaga verision, but it costs considerably less.

The Primark Distressed Midi Tote Bag, coming in an on-trend brown colour, is priced at just £15. Fans on TikTok have noticed how similar it looks to the Balenciaga City Bags, which are an eye-watering £1,890.

Posting a video of the bags in store, TikToker Samantha Kraja said: "Primark streetwear style bags. Such good value for money!"

They first hit stores in autumn last year but have continued to be immensely popular, with fans on social media picking them up for the upcoming spring season.

The description on the Primark website reads: "Add a bit of vintage attitude to your look with this distressed brown midi tote bag. Made from faux leather with a worn-in finish, it's full of character and handy details. The structured shape holds its own, while antique-look metal hardware, studs and contrast stitching bring all the style points.

"It's got a front zip pocket with extra-long pulls, side ring details and a secure top zip to keep everything in place. With sturdy top handles, an additional strap incase you want to wear it crossbody and a roomy interior, it's ready for your daily haul."

The TikTok video's comments were full of shoppers keen to get their hands on the bargain, with many noting how similar it looked to the designer version. One person wrote: "So Primark the new Balenciaga huh."

Another said: "I have the big one, need to small one." A third commented: "That's stunning."

Someone else tagged a friend and said: "I say we go and get them."

Urban Outfitters is also stocking a similar distressed-style bag adorned with fun accessories. The BDG Jude Faux Leather Shoulder Bag is slightly pricier at £44, but it comes in three colours - brown, grey and black.
