'Ravana Prabhu': Mohanlal says 'Savari giri giri'; re-release earns Rs 1.8 crores
The much-awaited 4K re-release of 'Ravana Prabhu', the 2001 cult action drama starring Mohanlal , has stormed back into theatres with a powerful response from fans.
The remastered version, presented in 4K Atmos, has already collected an impressive Rs 1.80 crore worldwide within two days of its re-release, according to box office tracker AB George.
Mohanlal’s ' Savari Giri Giri ' post
Taking to social media, Mohanlal joined in the celebration of Ravana Prabhu’s theatrical revival. Sharing a nostalgic snap from the movie, the superstar wrote, “Hey.. Savari Giri Giri ”
The re-release has not only brought Mohanlal fans back to theatres but also introduced the film’s intense father-son drama and classic Ranjith-style storytelling to a younger generation. Mohanlal's post was soon flooded with comments from fans. One comment reads, "Tonight with Lalettan. Dancing with total strangers with one feeling in heart- Love for Mohanlal." Another comment reads, "If a producer had the confidence to re release a 20 year old movie in a small state like kerala-That confidence has a name:Lalettan." A third comment reads, "Hey, Sadak Sadak Sadak Sadak Sadak Sadak Heyyyyy."
About 'Ravana Prabhu'
Directed and written by Ranjith , 'Ravana Prabhu' follows Karthikeyan (played by Mohanlal), the son of Mangalassery Neelakandan, as he strives to reclaim his family’s ancestral home from long-time rival Mundakkal Shekharan Nambiar. It's the continuation of IV Sasi's 'Devasuram' which was released in 1993 and was a classic hit.
Apart from Mohanlal, 'Ravana Prabhu' also stars Innocent, Napolean, Vasundhara Das , Siddique, Manoj K Jayan, Augustine, Jagadish, Vijayaraghavan and Sai Kumar in pivotal roles.
On the other hand, Mohanlal's previous outing was the Sathyan Anthikad's directorial feel-good drama movie 'Hridayapoorvam' which turned out to be a superhit with decent reviews. Mohanlal's film with Tharun Moorthy - 'Thudarum' received magnificent responses from the viewers, making it a blockbuster.
