The death certificates of Rob and Michele Reiner have revealed even more tragic details about their brutal murders. Hollywood was rocked earlier this month when the couple were found dead in their own home - and their son Nick Reiner was arrested on suspicion of murder soon after.

On Tuesday, just over a week after the bodies of Rob and Michele were found, the death certificates of the iconic director and his wife have been released. The couple were killed at their home in the Brentwood neighbourhood of Los Angeles on Sunday 14 December and it had previously been revealed they had been stabbed to death.

The couple died one minute a part following the brutal attack, their death certificates have revealed. When Harry Met Sally director Rob is confirmed as having died at 3:45pm on Sunday 14 December, while Michele died at 3:46pm on the same day. As such, a difference in the death certificates notes that Rob was "married" at the time of his death, while Michele is listed as being "widowed".

Other brutal details are listed in the certificates - which were shared by TMZ - which noted the couple died from "multiple sharp force injuries", and the injuries occurred "with knife, by another."

It has been reported that Rob and Michele was cremated at Mount Sinai Mortuary and their ashes are being held by their eldest son, Jake, 34. Meanwhile, 32-year-old Nick will remain in custody at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles until 7 January when his next hearing is due. He could be sentenced to life in prison or even face the death penalty over the murders if found guilty.

Jake and his sister Romy, 27, have spoken out to thank well-wishers for their support, as well as to confirm details for a service of remembrance that will follow in due course.

It comes after the two described their mother and father as not just parents but their 'best friends.' A statement released on Tuesday by the siblings via their spokesperson read: "Jake and Romy Reiner remain grateful for the outpouring of love and support they have received. They will share information about a memorial service honouring their parents at a later date."

In a statement released last week, Romy and Jake said: “Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day. The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience. They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends.”

The siblings went on to thank people for their love and support and appealed for "compassion and humanity" when discussing the circumstances surrounding their deaths. They added: “We are grateful for the outpouring of condolences, kindness, and support we have received not only from family and friends but people from all walks of life.

“We now ask for respect and privacy, for speculation to be tempered with compassion and humanity, and for our parents to be remembered for the incredible lives they lived and the love they gave.”

A string of stars have paid tribute to Rob following his shock death. Kathy Bates was among those to reflect on her experience working with him during an interview with CBS's 60 Minutes which aired over the past week. She recalled that her life had changed the moment Rob cast her in his 1990 psychological horror thriller film, Misery - for which she won a Best Actress Oscar.

She told the show: "If I hadn't done 'Misery,' it would be like George Bailey going back and seeing what his life would have been like if he had never been there," she said. "I wouldn't have had some of the friends that I have now. I wouldn't have had the richness in my life. I quite frankly probably would have stayed in the theater and I doubt I would have had a movie career. I might have dropped out altogether."

While Jerry O'Connell, who was 11 when he was cast in the iconic 1986 coming-of-age drama Stand by Me, was stunned when the director took him out to lunch the year after the film was released.

He recalled: "He took me out to lunch, man. He didn't have to do that, You know what I'm saying? It was months after the movie came out. He was a busy man, and he took a 12-year-old me out to lunch. Just to be like, 'Thanks so much. What a great movie,'" O'Connell recalled, with tears in his eyes. "That lunch meant so much to me, you know? It's just stuff that kids need to hear."
