Sara Arfeen Khan brings friends together for a special Suhoor gathering during Ramadan
Actor couple Sara Arfeen Khan and Arfeen Khan recently hosted an intimate Suhoor gathering at their home, bringing together friends from different walks of life to celebrate the spirit of Ramadan. The late-night get-together, held just before the pre-dawn meal that marks the start of the daily fast, was filled with food, conversations and a sense of togetherness that continued well into the early hours of the morning.
For Sara, the idea behind the gathering was to recreate the warmth and community that Suhoor represents during Ramadan. Speaking about why she wanted to host the evening, she shared, “Suhoor is such a beautiful tradition during Ramadan, where people come together late at night to share food, conversations and gratitude before the fast begins. I wanted to create a space where friends from different walks of life could experience that warmth and spirit together.”
Elaborating on how she planned the evening and the atmosphere she hoped to create for her guests, Sara explained that Suhoor offered a very different energy compared to Iftaar gatherings, which are usually more structured and time-bound. She said, “I wanted the evening to feel relaxed and meaningful. During Iftaar there is often the rush of breaking the fast and preparing for prayer time, so conversations tend to be short. Suhoor, on the other hand, has a much calmer energy. I wanted people to enjoy the night without any rush… good food, long conversations and beautiful moments of togetherness.”
Reflecting on the presence of friends who joined them for the gathering, Sara admitted that the gesture meant a lot to her. She added, “I feel truly grateful. What touched me the most was that even friends who aren’t Muslim, and who usually sleep early, gave up their beds to join us and be part of these beautiful moments. Isn’t that what true unity looks like? Traditions like these have the power to bring people together, especially in times like these when the world needs more understanding, warmth and connection.”
