Mythological story of Som Pradosh Vrat (Pradosh Vrat 2026 Katha)According to legend, in ancient times, a Brahmin woman lived in a city. She was very poor and supported herself and her child by begging. One day, she found an injured boy on the riverbank. He was no ordinary boy, but the prince of Vidarbha. His parents had been killed and his kingdom taken away.
The Brahmin woman brought the prince to her home and began raising him as her own son. After some time, she took both children to the ashram of Sage Shandilya, where the sage met them. The sage instructed the Brahmin woman and the two boys to observe the Som Pradosh fast and read its story. Obeying the sage's command, the Brahmin woman and the boys observed the Som Pradosh fast with full devotion and read the story.
Sometime later, as the prince grew up, he met a Gandharva girl named Anshumati. The prince and Anshumati fell in love. When the Gandharva king learned the truth about the prince of Vidarbha, he married his daughter to him. After the marriage, the prince regained his lost kingdom with the help of the Gandharva army.
The prince gave the Brahmin woman and her son a place in the palace. Through the influence of the Som Pradosh fast and the story, the prince regained his kingdom, and the Brahmin woman's poverty was eradicated forever.
