Sushant Marya on exploring a grey shade in Mr and Mrs Parshuram: Negative roles offer more scope
After playing a negative role in CID, Sushant Marya is set to explore grey shades in Mr and Mrs Parshuram, which stars Neil Bhatt and Shambhavi Singh in the lead roles. The show is an official adaptation of the popular Bengali drama Parashuram – Ajker Nayok. Khalid Siddiqui will be seen as the main antagonist. Confirming his role, Sushant says, “Yes, I am part of the show and have already started shooting. I am playing the role of Dodo. He is an unpredictable character with grey shades.”

Talking about his shooting experience with Neil and Shambhavi, Sushant says, “We shot for two to three days in Naigaon, and the experience was good. Shambhavi is very sweet, and Neil is talented, grounded, and humble. We have just started shooting together and don’t know each other very well yet, but I believe that with every passing scene, our bond will grow.”
Sushant, who has previously been part of shows such as Namah, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, and Karn Sangini, was most recently seen in CID. The actor reveals that he bagged this role after his performance in the crime show. He shares, “I played a biker in CID who killed his competitor. It was a negative role, and for the first time, I portrayed such a character. The casting team of Mr and Mrs Parshuram approached me after watching my performance in CID.”
The actor believes negative roles are more challenging and offer greater scope for performance. He says, “Negative characters give actors an opportunity to explore their craft in depth. They allow us to showcase a wider range, intensity, and versatility compared to conventional hero roles. My character, Dodo, has many layers and is quite complex. I have mostly played chocolate-boy roles, but Dodo gives me a chance to explore a different side of my acting. That’s what excites me about this project.”
