Tabu is set to return to South cinema after a gap of six years as the acclaimed actor, who has delivered memorable performances across industries, is now part of a new pan-India project that brings her back to familiar territory.


Her last appearance in South cinema was in Allu Arjun 's 'Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo', and this upcoming film marks a significant return for her to south cinema.

Tabu will next be seen in filmmaker Puri Jagannadh’s action thriller Slumdog — 33 Temple Road which also features Vijay Sethupathi and Samyuktha in key roles.


Currently in post-production, the film is expected to release later this year.

Co-Stars Praise Her Presence

During the shoot, Tabu’s presence left a strong impression on her co-stars. Samyuktha, who shared screen space with her, spoke about the actor’s natural ease and comfort on set.


Recalling her experience, she said told Mid Day, “She is a Hyderabad girl! Being the least experienced person there, I would listen to Zarina [Wahab] ma’am and Tabu ma’am talk in Telugu. I heard so many stories from them. I felt very included. There wasn’t any vibe of ‘You need to be away from us because we’re talking.’ I always felt a sense of inclusivity, which I loved."



A personal connection to Hyderabad

For Tabu, this film is not just another project but also a return to her roots. Born and raised in Hyderabad, she shares a deep connection with the region and its film industry.




Beyond her current project, Tabu continues to be remembered for her iconic collaborations, particularly with Irrfan Khan . Their on-screen pairing was widely appreciated.


Films like Maqbool, The Namesake, and Haider showcased their ability to bring complex emotions to screen and recently, Babil Khan shared a personal moment involving Tabu, revealing that she had gifted him a kurta, which he wore on Eid.


On the other hand, Tabu was last seen in the TV series 'Dune: Prophecy'.
