Ullswater, located in the Lake District National Park, is England's second-largest lake and third-deepest, renowned for its dramatic mountain scenery and, notably, Aira Force waterfall.

Aira Force is a spectacular 65-foot waterfall with stone footbridge and a lower viewing area. Owned by the National Trust, it is a popular, often busy destination offering woodland trails and views of Lyulph's Tower.

It is a premier destination for watersports, including sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and wakesurfing. There is also the scenic 20-mile Ullswater Way around the lake to explore.

Also in the area is Lowther Castle & Gardens, a ruined 19th-century country house owned by the Earl of Lonsdale with expansive gardens and adventure playgrounds.

Sarah from Holiday Cottages said: "Ullswater is an equally picturesque lake with a mountain backdrop, but far less busy than Windermere. Aira Force waterfall is a visitor highlight, known for its dramatic single drop of 65 foot hidden among the picturesque woodland.

"Steamer cruises offer a sustainable way of visiting lakeside villages along Ullswater and preserve local heritage. The Ullswater Way walking route circumnavigates the entire lake for 20 miles, if you prefer to explore on foot."
