Tommy DeCarlo dead: Boston lead singer dies aged 60 following battle with brain cancer
Boston lead singer Tommy DeCarlo has died at the age of 60 following a battle with brain cancer. The singer of the band - which was known for hits such as More Than A Feeling - has died, his family announced.
Taking to social media, his family paid a heartbreaking tribute. They wrote: "It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our Dad, Tommy DeCarlo, on Monday, March 9th, 2026.
"After being diagnosed with brain cancer last September, he fought with incredible strength and courage right up until the very end. During this difficult time, we kindly ask that friends and fans respect our family’s privacy as we grieve and support one another."

Back in December, Tommy's family asked friends and fans for financial support following his diagnosis. They recalled how he had suffered a sudden bleed on the brain, when two "melanoma masses" were discovered.
"During surgery, doctors discovered two melanoma masses on his brain and another spot on his lungs. He amazed us by recovering from the surgery and beginning treatment, but before he could complete it, he had another brain bleed and was hospitalized from November 27th to December 27th. Since then he has completed acute inpatient therapy and is currently back on track with treatments from his oncology team," they wrote.
"Our Dad is strong. He is a fighter. And he’s giving this battle everything he’s got — but he needs your help on this one. We’ve created a GoFundMe to help support his needs and the challenges ahead.
"He is deeply grateful for the love, prayers, and support he’s already received from friends, family, and fans all over the world. It has lifted him up during the hardest moments and reminded him he’s not fighting alone."
At the time of writing, the GoFundMe had raised a huge $56,818. Tommy was into music his whole life and would regularly cover Boston songs on the internet. He got in touch with management and ended up working with the band.
After a successful meeting with primary songwriter and guitarist Tom Scholz, Tommy has been working with the band for years and was vocalist for every touring line-up of Boston. He took over lead vocals from frontman Brad Delp following his death in 2007.
