On Akshaya Tritiya, it is customary to rise before dawn and take a ritual bath. After bathing, one should don clean attire. The worship area (Puja Sthal) at home should be purified with holy Ganges water. A red or yellow cloth is then spread over a *Chowki* (low stool) or *Asana* (seat), where the idols of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu are placed.

While holding water, *Akshat* (unbroken rice), and flowers, devotees take a solemn pledge (Sankalp) to observe the fast. Following this, *Roli* (red vermilion), sandalwood paste, turmeric, and *Kumkum* (sacred red powder) are applied as *Tilak* (sacred marks) on the idols.

Offer yellow flowers to Lord Vishnu and lotus or pink flowers to Goddess Lakshmi. Incense sticks and a *Ghee* (clarified butter) lamp should be lit at the worship site. As *Naivedya* (sacred food offering), barley or wheat *Sattu* (roasted flour), fruits, sweets, and soaked chickpeas are presented to the deities.

Reciting the 'Vishnu Sahasranama' is believed to bring great spiritual merit. Listening to or reading the sacred stories related to Akshaya Tritiya is also encouraged. The worship concludes with the *Aarti* (ritual lamp ceremony) for Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. Finally, donations of food, clothing, water, fruits, gold, or silver should be made to the needy, according to one's ability.
