Urvashi opens up about life after marriage

Speaking about her first days after marriage, Urvashi said, “When I went to that house after my first marriage, it was not like the lifestyle of my own home. Everyone there was very forward thinking. They would all sit together, drink, and eat. Mothers and children would drink together!” She admitted that at first she was shocked, but she kept trying to fit in. “By the time I realised that I was slowly becoming a different person, it was already too late. I had no one to express myself to,” she added.

Trying to prove herself

Urvashi said she was very firm about proving to her family that her marriage decision was right. “The decision I took was marriage, and I was very stubborn about proving to my family that it was the right decision,” she said. She shared that the only person who truly understood her situation was Kala chechi. “She tried to correct me and bring me back on track. But by then, I had already become someone else. I was slowly going deeper into a pit,” Urvashi admitted.

She also spoke about how drinking slowly became part of her life. Recalling stories she heard when she entered cinema, Urvashi said, “People used to say that after heavy shoots, Sridevi madam would be given a drink to help her relax.”

Health, pain, and breaking free

Urvashi revealed that drinking increased during arguments and stress. “Whenever there were differences of opinion, the drinking increased. Along with that, my health became worse,” she said. She spoke about losing sleep, appetite, and mental peace. “When both food and sleep are gone, the mental state changes,” she explained.

Finally, Urvashi shared how her friends and personal staff stepped in to save her. “They stepped forward to forcefully pull me out of it,” she said. She also spoke about being raised with the belief that a woman must live in her husband’s house. “I lived according to that belief. It took a long time for me to change that mindset."
