The world's most expensive plane ticket could be yours with prices now falling for one of the most luxurious trips anywhere on Earth. Etihad Airways' The Residence is exactly that, your own "residence" in the skies, it's a suite tacked with a bed, en-suite shower and a separate living space. The experience starts on the ground, with Etihad offering customers a luxury chauffeur service, a personalised attaché at the airport and access to a private lounge.

Those flying out of Abu Dhabi will even get access to the 'Be Relax Spa', with a complimentary treatment thrown in. Guests feel relaxed, pampered and indulged in luxury before they have even left the airport. For £55,000 you'd hope so. Onboard is where the magic really begins, with guests shown into their own in-air personalised living room

The space is kitted out with a leather double-seat sofa, dining tables and an impressive personal 32-inch flat-screen TV, no more squinting at the small screen on the back of the chair in front. Want to catch up on some shut-eye onboard? The Residence is equipped with a private room, a large double bed and a second TV.

A private bathroom has everything you'll need to stay fresh, with guests enjoying their very own onboard shower and toilet. It doesn't end there, with Residence guests previously enjoying one of the best in-flight services in the skies.

Etihad used to offer a dedicated butler service, as well as a personal chef cooking up everything from light bites to gourmet meals whenever passengers like. Food can either be ordered to the living space or the bedroom, meaning breakfast in bed 40,000 feet in the air was once a reality.

However, Etihad Airways no longer includes a dedicated personal chef or butler service on their A380s, with the experience now slightly altered.

A ticket will set you back an arm and a leg and maybe even more, with premium routes between New York and Abu Dhabi once priced as much as £55,000 per ticket.

However, the changes mean costs are now significantly falling, with the service offered as an upgrade for First Class ticket holders.

This is still costly, but not unattainable, with Residence seats between Abu Dhabi to Paris available for around £1,200 more. First Class seats on this route still start from around £4,500, but the dream of flying like a King could be back on the table for many.
