Bihar Government Approves Major Proposals to Support Contract Workers and Youth Employment

Patna, Sep 2: The Bihar government has recently approved 49 proposals spanning various sectors, providing significant relief to contract workers and Panchayati Raj personnel.
This decision emerged from a crucial cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, held at the state secretariat's central hall.
In a move to bolster the Panchayati Raj framework, the government has increased the salary of Gram Kachhari Secretaries from Rs 6,000 to Rs 9,000.
Additionally, the duty allowance for members of the Bihar Home Guard Corps has been raised, along with increases for technical assistants and accountant-cum-IT assistants.
Technical assistants, who previously earned Rs 27,000, will now receive Rs 40,000 monthly.
Meanwhile, accountant-cum-IT assistants will see their honorarium rise from Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 per month following cabinet approval.
These new honorariums will take effect from July 1, directly benefiting thousands of contractual workers who have long advocated for pay increases.
The cabinet also sanctioned new hiring across various departments, aiming to create job opportunities for the youth.
This includes teacher positions in the Education Department and new roles in the Art and Culture Department.
Officials noted that these initiatives aim to tackle unemployment while enhancing educational and cultural infrastructure throughout the state.
Other approved proposals encompass schemes for different departments, infrastructure development, new urban and rural projects, and amendments to service conditions.
These government actions are perceived as a strategy to prioritize public welfare.
Notifications regarding the implementation of these proposals will be issued by the relevant departments in the coming days.
In an election year, the Nitish government has rolled out several initiatives targeting youth, grassroots workers, and employees in education and other sectors.
The recent cabinet decisions are viewed as part of a broader strategy to appeal to vital segments of society, particularly rural workers, contractual employees, and job-seeking youth.
