Akshaya Navami is a significant festival celebrated in Hindu religion. Akshaya Navami is also known as Amla Navami . On this auspicious day, women get involved in various religious activities such as observing fast, offering prayers to Lord Vishnu, and most importantly worshipping Amla tree. The day is equally important as Akshaya Tritiya. The festival of Akshaya Navami is celebrated on Navami Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Kartik. Akshaya Navami 2025: Significance
Akshaya Navami is a sacred day dedicated to worship Amla tree. This day is as important as Akshaya Tritiya. This day holds a great religious and spiritual importance among Hindus. Because Amla is regarded as a very sacred tree, devotees offer prayers to it.

It is believed that those who fast and pray will experience Moksha, or salvation. Devotees from different cities, visit Govardhan Mountain and visit Mathura and Vrindavan. This day is seen to be very fortunate for engaging in religious and spiritual pursuits. The Hindu scriptures state that on this day, Lord Krishna travelled from the streets of Vrindavan and Gokul to Mathura in order to fulfill his duties and other responsibilities.

This day is also observed as Satya Yugadi, as per belief Satya Yuga started from this very day hence people are recommended to become involved in religious activities to obtain more benefits of this day.

On this auspicious day, Jagaddhatri Puja is performed and the day is mainly celebrated in West Bengal. They offer prayers to the divine feminine energy and Jagaddhatri is an another form of Maa Durga. Maa Jagaddhatri is depicted as the most compassionate and calm Goddess, who is seen as a mother. Devotees who do Jagaddhatri Puja with great devotion are believed to be freed of all kinds of issues.

It is also believed that on this sacred day, Lord Vishnu vanquished the demon identified as Kushmanda so this day is also honored as Kushmanda Navami.

Akshaya Navami 2025: Puja Rituals
1. Before beginning puja rites, people get up early and take a bath.
2. Women go to temples where there are Amla trees, sit beneath them, face east, and offer prayers to the tree.
3. They light a diya with Desi ghee, provide sweets, tie a red thread around the tree seven times, and mix milk and water to offer in the tree's roots and blossoms.
4. The Lord Ganesha Katha (Bindayak Katha) is recited by devotees.
5. They walk around the tree seven times.
6. A Brahmin must get food and clothing donations.
7. Giving to charities is regarded as very fulfilling.
