Ashadha Amavasya 2025 : Significance

Ashadha Amavasya holds a great religious and spiritual significance among Hindus and the day is devoted to worship forefathers and people perform various spiritual activities for the salvation of their ancestors on this particular day. Amavasya days are regarded as potent gateways to the spiritual world and higher energies because of their significant lunar influence. Ancestral energies are believed to be at their most accessible and active during Ashadha Amavasya.

This day is considered auspicious to take a holy bath in Ganga river and a large number of devotees visit various Ganga Ghats on this particular day. Though, Amavasya is not considered an auspicious day to perform important activities such as: Griha Pravesh, marriage, engagement, starting new business venture or job.

Ashadha Amavasya 2025: Puja Rituals

1. Tarpan (Ancestral Offerings)

People can invite qualified Priest, Brahmin at home and they can perform Pitru Tarpan by following proper rituals and then offer them food, clothes and dakshina.

2. Holy bath in sacred river

This is one of the most important ritual which can be done by devotees and recieve blessings from Ganga Maiya by offering a diya, flowers and coconut. This will help them to purify their body, mind and soul. If it is not possible to take a holy bath in ganga river then people can take a holy dip in other sacred rivers also such as Narmada, Yamuna and Shipra.

3. Deep Daan
To eliminate Saturn's bad effects, devotees are advised to perform deep daan in the evening time of Amavasya. They can visit the temple and light a mustard oil diya beneath the peepal tree. This will help to regain the spiritual strength and people can seek the blessings of Lord Shani.

4. Spiritual Activities
Performing spiritual activities is also one of the most powerful way to utilize this day. One can get involved in various spiritual and religious activities and also observe Maun Vrat for sometime to align your energies. Performing hawan is another way and offer this to your ancestors. Your also can read some holy scriptures such as Ramayana and Bhagvad Gita so they can get free from the cycle of birth and death.

5. Mantra Chanting
One can chant various powerful mantras to seek blessings of their ancestors such as Gayatri Mantra that is again dedicated to ancestor and people can also chant Lord Shiva mantras to calm their mind.
