Abhishek Sharma Discharged from Hospital; Will He Played Against Namibia?

Newspoint

India received good news ahead of their T20 World Cup match against Namibia as opener Abhishek Sharma has been discharged from hospital. The left-handed batter suffered from a major stomach infection and required hospitalization since the beginning of this week.

The Indian team became worried about Abhishek's health situation because Pakistan would play against India on February 15. But the team management received relief after he left the hospital.

Tilak Varma Confirms Official Update

Tilak Varma spoke to the media before the game against Namibia to provide the latest information about Abhishek's current medical state.

Tilak Varma said:

"When we reached Delhi, he was taken to hospital for examination. Today he was discharged. We have one more day to go so we’ll decide tomorrow."

The team will conduct another practice session before they determine whether Abhishek will participate in the upcoming match against Namibia.

How Abhishek Fell ILL

Abhishek Sharma played in the USA match against India but did not contribute anything to the game. He was dismissed from the game without scoring any runs. He stayed off the field during bowling because of his unfit condition. Sanju Samson took his place on the field.

Abhishek had been playing while experiencing a high fever and an upset stomach. The Indian team visited their head coach Gautam Gambhir's house after the match for an official dinner. Abhishek left the dinner early because he became unwell.

The hospital admitted him and doctors found out that he had a stomach infection which led to his stay in the hospital.

Should India Rest Him Against Namibia?

India are strong favourites against Namibia. The team will maintain their focus because they face an opponent who shows less match experience and lower match quality.

The team management will probably prevent Abhishek from playing if he still has not recovered before the Pakistan match. Extra rest time will enable him to achieve complete recovery before the important match.

Sanju Samson stands ready to replace Abhishek at the top of the batting order. He has experience and can play attacking cricket in the powerplay. Samson will probably begin the match if Abhishek sits out.

Parthiv Patel Suggests Washington Sundar as Opener

Parthiv Patel who used to play as a wicketkeeper for India presented an alternative opinion about team selection to others. He recommended that India should utilize Washington Sundar as an opener instead of selecting Sanju Samson for the opening position.

Parthiv Patel said:

"When you are thinking about preparing playing XI for Colombo (game against Pakistan) where there the ball will turn a bit and stop a bit. Why not try and open with Washington Sundar instead of bringing in Sanju Samson. Just in case, Abhsihek doesn't get fit for the Pakistan clash, you will have an attacking opener and a spinner, which maybe useful against Pakistan."

Sundar recently joined the squad in Delhi after recovering from a rib injury. He missed the opening game in Mumbai but had his first full training session with the team on Tuesday. Reports indicate that he successfully bowled during practice while demonstrating strong batting performance in the nets.

Big Decision Before Matchday

The Indian team management now faces an important decision. They must balance Abhishek’s fitness with the need to prepare strongly for the Pakistan game.

If Abhishek feels fully fit he will play in the match against Namibia. India now has two strong players available who can take over his position which includes Sanju Samson and Washington Sundar.

The final decision will probably happen on the match day. India can celebrate their young opener's return from the hospital because he has started his recovery process.
