Prior to the fight, there were whispers that Joshua had agreed to go easy on Paul, allegations both camps vehemently denied.

Reflecting on his performance, Joshua said: "I needed to do better, It's a win, but it's not a success. I feel my coach expects more from me, and I expect more from myself. But what can we do? I can't live off of that win."

Joshua admitted he still has room for improvement, stating: "So, yeah, I'm not happy. I had boxing on my back today, and that is what it was really.

"I took Jake as serious as I needed to, but most importantly, I take myself as serious as I need to."

"You have to be prepared. One slip-up could cost you in that ring."

As the 36-year-old looks ahead to the New Year, he hinted at bigger things to come.

On Christmas Day, he posted on X (formerly known as Twitter): "A massive shoutout to the 33 million of you who tuned in to support me, Jake, and everyone on the undercard, and thank you to those who prayed for me during fight week.

"Enjoy the festive break if you're celebrating, and have a blessed week if you're not. Big things coming in the New Year, so stay tuned.

"We are all one under God's eyes. God bless. Rastafari."

Meanwhile, Paul also posted a message on the same social media platform. "God is great," he penned.

"Broken jaw but brain and spine all clear. Never been more motivated. Merry Christmas to all around the world.

"Never stop trying to be great. You are guaranteed 100% failure if you don't try."
