Banned PGA Tour star speaks out on response to wife's letter after Brooks Koepka return
Wesley Bryan has revealed that the PGA Tour said there was "no conversation necessary" after his wife sent a long and detailed letter following Brooks Koepka's return from LIV Golf.
Koepka, a five-time major winner, began his second act as a PGA Tour professional last week following a four-year stint at LIV Golf. The 35-year-old finished his first tournament back T-56 at Torrey Pines.
It wasn't Koepka's finest performance, but a number of golf fans were delighted to see him back on the PGA Tour.
One player that won't be seen at a PGA Tour event soon, however, is Bryan.
In early 2025, Bryan, 35, was suspended from the PGA Tour for playing in LIV Golf's nine-hole influencer scramble event, Duels. He played in the first two Creator Classics, finishing in second and sixth place.
Bryan hasn't been seen on the PGA Tour since, but there was some hope that a return would be sanctioned after Koepka's sentence was lifted for the Farmers Insurance Open at the end of January.
Now, Bryan, who has won four professional titles in his career, has spoken out about his ban and he admitted he and his wife sent a "really well thought out" letter to the PGA Tour advocating for his reinstatement.
But according to Bryan, the response from the PGA Tour was disappointing, to say the least.
"We got a response saying they reviewed the letter," Bryan told Skratch. "But it was from basically their assistant saying 'no conversation is necessary.' That was pretty difficult. Like, why can't we talk on the phone for 10 or 15 minutes?"
As well as Koepka, Patrick Reed is another that has left LIV Golf to return to the PGA Tour ahead of the 2026 season.
When asked about Koepka and Reed, world No.1 Scottie Scheffler said on Thursday: "When you look at a lot of the discussions we've had and when you look at what a lot of fans are saying, I think people want the best people playing together again.
"So when it comes to great players like Brooks or Patrick Reed, Patrick Reed is a major champion and I think Brooks Koepka has won five majors, so having those guys competing out here is great for the tour, great for fans, and great for our sponsors.
"I think the last few years there has just been a lot of noise, and so I think getting those guys back is another step towards us just being able to play golf again. That's what I'm looking forward to most."
