Star India batter Rinku Singh is all set to be back in the Indian camp ahead of the mus win clash Super 8 clash against Zimbabwe, this was confirmed by the Indian batting coach at a press conference at Chennai on Wednesday, February 25. The Uttar Pradesh batter is expected to be back in the squad by Wednesday evening, before the clash at the Chepauk on Thursday.

Rinku was earlier sent back from the team camp to deal with an emergency at home. Reports suggested that his father, Khanchand Singh was in a serious condition and was admitted at the Greater Noida based hospital. The southpaw had travelled with the team to Chennai on Monday, February 23, after India’s Super 8 match against West Indies in Mumbai.

Kotak, the batting coach of India said

"Rinku, his father wasn’t well, so he went back. And I think he is coming back this evening. So, hopefully he will be back this evening."

Rinku has part of India's XI in all five matches they played in this tournament so far but has only amassed 24 runs. His return, at this point, is very important as India would be looking to bounce back from their Super 8 loss against South Africa at Ahmedabad. The batter is expected to retain his position in the Indian playing XI for the match against Zimbabwe.

India Sticks to its Brand of Cricket

Despite the loss, Kotak affirmed that India would play its own brand of cricket throughout the T20 World Cup.

He said:

"Definitely we will play the same brand of cricket. Sometimes you lose a couple of wickets and shot selection or risk percentage may be wrong. But that’s about it. Otherwise, in the T20 game, we have to be very positive and play the same brand of cricket which has given us success. That will continue."

India has two more matches left in the group stage, and must win them both to have a fair chance of reaching the semi-finals. The return of Rinku Singh will be an added advantage for the Indian batting line up.
