Tilak Varma's brilliant century helped the Mumbai Indians register their second win of IPL 2026 on Monday, ending a run of four consecutive defeats. Batting first, Mumbai scored 199, but at one point, the team appeared to be in trouble after falling to 44 for three. Tilak also had a slow start, scoring just 19 runs off 22 balls. A video from the second timeout went viral, showing captain Hardik Pandya speaking to Tilak. People began to speculate that Pandya was angry, speaking aggressively.

Hardik Pandya himself revealed what he said to Tilak Varma. He said he told Tilak not to overthink or worry, but to just look at the ball and hit it hard. This is Tilak Varma's first IPL century. He became the joint fastest batsman to score a century for the Mumbai Indians.

Hardik revealed the conversation

Hardik Pandya said, "I felt that with the kind of talent Tilak Varma has, he really doesn't need to worry. So I gave him the message to watch the ball and hit it.

Now is the time for him to show his talent. This was important for Tilak and the Mumbai Indians team."

After the 14th over, Tilak Verma was batting on 19 off 22 balls. He then went on to score 82 off 23 balls. Verma hit seven sixes and eight fours in his 101-run innings off 45 balls. Tilak had been out of form for quite some time before this.

what did Tilak Varma say

After receiving the Player of the Match award, Tilak Verma said, "Every match is important for us now.

I didn't get much time on the pitch in the last five matches. So, I wanted to spend more time on the pitch in this match. As you saw, for the first 20 balls, I was just watching each ball. And then later, I had confidence in my ability. I just kept playing according to the situation and the team's needs, keeping calm and sticking to my basics."
