Ish Sodhi Overtakes Tim Southee to Become Second-Highest T20I Wicket-Taker

Just one wicket was required for Ish Sodhi to surpass the wicket haul of Southee's record 164. The milestone was indeed achieved in sensational fashion when Sodhi got Shamim Hossain on the third ball of the 12th over of the 3rd T20I against Bangladesh. This was his 165th wicket in T20i cricket and moved him past Southee in the charts.

 

The 33-year-old Lodhiana born New Zealander now has 165 wickets to his name in 142 games for New Zealand in the T20i format. In the process, he has become the highest wicket-taker for New Zealand in T20 Internationals.

 

Sodhi Moves Up to 2nd Spot in List of Most T20 Wickets

 

Sodhi is now placed 2nd in terms of the most number of wickets in T20i cricket, with only Rashid Khan sitting above him with 193 wickets from 115 games. Sodhi's journey up the charts over the years has been consistent and he is currently one among the top few T20I bowlers. He is ahead of the top bowlers like Adil Rashid and Mustafizur Rahman in terms of career wickets in T20I matches.
