Pool star Jayson Shaw appeared to offer a fan a fight outside Alexandra Palace during an angry exchange. The 37-year-old lost his cool after helping Team Europe race into a 3-0 lead at the Mosconi Cup.

The Mosconi Cup got underway on Wednesday, with Team Europe aiming to win the event for the sixth time in a row.

Shaw, who is captaining his team, was in action on the opening night as he went head-to-head with Skyler Woodward. But after securing a 5-2 victory, he became visibly annoyed at a fan in the stands.

Shaw was caught by the Matchroom Pool cameras making a lewd gesture at the man while he mouthed the word: "W*****."

And the Scot then pointed his cue and his finger in the direction of the fan as he appeared to say: "Watch, watch, watch, watch, wait until you go outside."

As the pool star made a beeline towards the crowd to make his feelings known, the commentator exclaimed: "Now someone really has upset Jayson Shaw here."

The camera cut to the top of the stands, where one man was pumping his arms in the air in a celebratory manner, while another fan tucked into a meal.

And the commentator added: "Let's hope that does not affect his equilibrium."

Team USA captain Woodward looked as though he was enjoying the situation as he sat in his seat with a smile on his face.

But Shaw wasn't willing to forget the incident and made his way over to the side once again to complain to Team USA player Fedor Gorst before receiving a pat on the back from his rival.

And the co-commentator said: "Well I kind of figured out who it was that was maybe having the exchange in the stands. It wasn't Fedor Gorst but I think it was a pretty good friend of Fedor Gorst's, so that's why he had that talk."

Team Europe went on to win the final match of the night to cement a 4-0 overnight lead.

Shaw is one of the best pool players in the world but was a keen snooker player during his youth. He used to play at a snooker hall in Glasgow that welcomed stars including John Higgins and Stephen Maguire.

But he told The Sun last year: "Back in the day I worked at Craigpark Masters, cleaning the tables, filling the fridges, and I got to play. I got into a little bit of a fight outside the club one day and they ended up kicking me out of the club.

"I just ended up sticking with pool.

I really feel if that had never happened I would have become a pro [snooker player] because I was really into it, hitting 100 breaks every day, and I was only playing for like two or three months."
