Man Utd owner 'looking to buy new club' as Sir Jim Ratcliffe faces huge backlash
Manchester United co-owner Avram Glazer is reportedly among the shortlisted parties interested in purchasing the Rajasthan Royals cricket franchise. The Indian Premier League side are into a second round of binding bids, before entering a period of exclusivity with one of its finalists.
The Glazer family, through Avram's Lancer Capital, are among those pursuing the RR, but it's also reported that they could hold an interest in the Royal Challengers Bengaluru franchise as well. Unlike the process with the RR takeover, the situation with the RCB is only at the non-binding stage, meaning bidders carry no obligation to complete a transaction.
It comes after another of United's co-owners, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, launched an attack on the UK's immigration process, while calling out Prime Minister Keir Starmer over his handling of the situation. Ratcliffe - whose tax residency is in Monaco - said: "You can't have an economy with nine million people on benefits and huge levels of immigrants coming in.

"I mean, the UK has been colonised. It's costing too much money. The UK has been colonised by immigrants, really, hasn't it? I mean, the population of the UK was 58 million in 2020, now it's 70 million. That's 12 million people."
Ratcliffe later apologised for his "choice of language", but doubled down on his immigration stance. United went on to release a statement of their own on social media, preaching inclusivity and priding itself on being a welcoming club.
It read: "Manchester United prides itself on being an inclusive and welcoming club. Our diverse group of players, staff and global community of supporters, reflect the history and heritage of Manchester; a city that anyone can call home.
"Since launching All Red All Equal in 2016, we have embedded equality, diversity and inclusion into everything we do. We remain deeply committed to the principles and spirit of that campaign. They are reflected in our policies but also in our culture and are reinforced by our holding of the Premier League's Advanced Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Standard."
