Manchester United star Mason Mount has responded to Luke Littler after the darts superstar was spotted at the match between his side and Wolves at Molineux on Monday night. The 18-year-old was part of the away support that travelled up to the Midlands for the Premier League clash, which had plenty of goals in store for them.

A Bruno Fernandes brace, followed by goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Mount, sealed an important three points for Ruben Amorim on the hunt for a European place this season. Littler's appearance in the crowd drew the eyes of the Sky cameras, who showed him amongst the other fans who made the trip to Molineux.

There were some criticisms from quarters in the Man United fanbase, as many missed out on the ballot to land a ticket for the game. However, that won't have spoiled a first away day for the youngster, who took to social media to post about his thrilling day at the football.

Taking to Instagram, he said: "First away day. What a result, chill for few days now then onto the world championship Thursday." This was followed by some messages of support from those in the United squad.

Mount was among those in the comments, with the star stating: "Love it mate," while Harry Maguire also added a heart emoji with some raised hands. It was an eventful evening for Littler to witness, with the England international who sent him the message pulling the strings in the match.

Mount was a standout in the game on Monday night, bagging a goal and knitting play together for the visiting side. It led to plenty of praise from his manager, Amorim, after the game.

"It’s not just the goal he scored, it’s the way he plays the game – how he attacks, he defends, he understands his technical qualities," the head coach told the official Manchester United website after the game. "You don’t need to have many touches. He’s a really good player and works hard. He knows sometimes he needs to start on the bench.”

It remains to be seen whether Mount or any of the other Man United players will be taking a break from their usual responsibilities to attend the darts and to cheer Littler on like he did for them. Thursday marks the start of the PDC World Darts Championship, as the 18-year-old looks to defend the crown that he won earlier this year.

His first round match is in the evening session, as he takes on Lithuania's Darius Labanauskas. Littler beat Michael van Gerwen in the final of the 2025 tournament, marking his first win at the Worlds, one year on from bursting onto the scene and losing to Luke Humphries in the final.

If the youngster manages to replicate the form he showed last time out, then he could be the first to win back-to-back World Championships for the first time in a decade. Gary Anderson is the last to do it, winning it in 2015 and 2016, while there have been seven different winners of it in the past ten years.

Now the newly ranked number one in the world, Littler has spoken about his feelings surrounding his own game coming into the tournament. He told Sky News: "I wouldn't say there's really any nerves, I just enjoy it. I love producing my best darts, I love walking on, seeing the fans and there's no need to put any pressure on yourself.

"If you win, you win; if you lose, you lose. Obviously, if you're losing, it's not a good feeling and you've gotta get yourself out of that situation, get yourself back into the game, and that's what I'm good at. I'm good at turning it up a notch or two, and I can get in front of my opponent and then go on and win the game."

Having recently taken that number one spot, as well as the Grand Slam victory just a few weeks ago, Littler is the form player that everyone will need to beat.
