Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz have been among those to congratulate Aryna Sabalenka on her engagement to boyfriend Georgios Frangulis. In an Instagram video posted on Tuesday, the women's world No.1 looked genuinely shocked as Frangulis got down on one knee to pop the question while surrounded by flowers and candles.

The 27-year-old said yes before the pair embraced. The clip then cut to a close-up of the hefty ring on her finger. It is unclear where the proposal took place, but Sabalenka is currently getting ready to compete at Indian Wells in California.

Posting a caption alongside the video, she said: "You & me, forever 3.3.26," with infinity, ring and white heart emojis. In further clips on her Instagram story, Sabalenka showed off the ring again and wrote: "Well, I obviously had NO idea this was happening tonight [laughing face emoji]."

And Sabalenka's post has received a huge numer of comments, including three love heart emojis from 24-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic. Men's world No.1 Alcaraz meanwhile said: "Congratulatiooooons!" Other stars to react include fellow WTA star Coco Gauff who posted: "Congratulations", and Skiing legend Lindsey Vonn who said: "Congrats".

The engagement should not come as a major surprise to anyone, given a hint from Sabalenka herself after winning the Brisbane International tournament in January. She said: "As always, last but not least, thank you my team for handling me.

"I'm really the toughest one to handle and you guys are the toughest people in the world if you can handle me. Thank you, guys, I love you. And thank you to my boyfriend. Hopefully, soon I'll call you somehow else, right?".

Sabalenka and Frangulis, a Brazilian-born entrepreneur of Greek heritage, confirmed their relationship after the pair were seen together at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix in Italy in 2024. At that time, Frangulis's Oakberry company backed the Haas F1 team before moving to Alpine last year.

Frangulis, 37, established Oakberry, a healthy fast-food business specialising in acai bowls and smoothies, in 2016. Throughout the past decade, the brand has grown to over 35 countries.
